- Civil guards of the Organic Judicial Police Unit of the Civil Guard of Bizkaia together with the Local Police of Barakaldo, have arrested the leader of the group at his home last Thursday
- Two other people in the criminal network who were in charge of making cocaine “passes” were also arrested
- 150 grams and 200 doses of cocaine, a “rock” to make another 100 doses, cash, useful for drug distribution, jewelry and mobile phones
- Alleged drug trafficking, criminal group membership and money laundering offences are attributed to the perpetrators
Last Thursday, civil guards of the Organic Judicial Police Unit of the Civil Guard of Bizkaia together with the Local Police of Barakaldo, within the framework of Operation BARADOMI, have arrested the leader of a criminal group dedicated to drug trafficking and two other people belonging to the network, who were operating in Barakaldo.
The investigations began in February 2023, when it became known that several people were involved in the sale of drugs in the town of Barakaldo, and that one of them had served a sentence for a crime of drug trafficking in the Dominican Republic. These people would be sending through money sending companies considerable amounts to South America.
Asked for information from the Local Police, the officers reported that they had noticed an increase in complaints about drug possession and consumption in the area. This serious public health problem became a priority, so a joint investigation of both bodies was agreed.
From the monitoring and follow-up, it was found that the group would be composed of a leader and at least two people who were responsible for the distribution of the narcotic substance. In the case of two males and one female.
The leader of the group was responsible for the surveillance and control of people and vehicles approaching the drug sale area and the other two components, in addition to carrying out the “passes” of the drug, carried out the custody of the substance in two homes.
The distribution of the narcotic substance was carried out both in the house where one of the detainees resided, at street level and to passengers and/or drivers of vehicles who, once the passes were made, quickly left the place so as not to be intercepted.
The investigators discovered that the criminal network had recently acquired a slice and executed a work to furnish it as a barbershop/hairdresser in the same locality and close to the homes where the drug was shipped. Presumably, to be used as a “cover” and to launder money from drug trafficking.
Entries and searches have been made in two homes and in a barbershop/hairdresser all located in the town of Barakaldo in Bizkaia. In the records 150 grams and 200 doses of cocaine, a “rock” of the same narcotic substance, have been intervened, which, if cut, would result in about 100 more doses, 1,600€ in cash, useful for the distribution of the drug, weighing scale, cuts of bags, wires, various jewels and mobile phones.
In addition, the Civil Guard and the Local Police of Barakaldo have intervened two computers and a tablet for their study, and have requested the blocking of the movable and banking assets owned by the group of the criminal.
