- Two of the detainees obtained the paedophile content through the program "Emule", also using it to share videos and photos with third parties
- They had over 1,000 pornography files with minors, some very young
- The operation has been coordinated by the Cybercrime Prosecutor’s Office of Bizkaia, carrying out three entries and searches in the homes of the detainees, in Santurtzi, Barakaldo and Portugalete
The National Police has completed an operation, coordinated by the Cybercrime Prosecutor’s Office of Bizkaia, against the possession and distribution of child pornography that has resulted in the arrest of three men who are accused of alleged crimes of corruption of minors.
The investigation has been carried out in two phases, in the first, the Central Cybercrime Unit, thanks to the work of cyber-patrolling in “the network”, was able to determine that from three IP addresses geolocated in Bizkaia, child pornography was being downloaded.
Already in the second phase, the agents of the Bilbao Organized Crime Group identified the alleged perpetrators and located their homes, located in Santurtzi, Barakaldo and Portugalete. After obtaining the necessary judicial orders for entry and registration for these homes, they were arrested and computer devices intervened.
Specifically, in the search carried out in the town of Santurtzi, the investigators intervened an internal hard drive with more than 1,000 video and image files of paedophile content that the detainee, with previous records for similar events, had obtained and shared through the file download program “Emule”.
The second entry and registration, carried out in the town of Baracaldo, involved two internal hard drives with 300 pornographic files of minors. In this case, as in the previous one, the detainee obtained the files through “Emule”.
Finally, in the third registration, carried out in Portugalete, a laptop computer and three external hard drives were intervened with 1,000 image and video files of clear paedophile content, some of them with young children.
For all these reasons, both the detainees and the computer devices were placed at the disposal of the corresponding Examining Court, and they are currently at liberty pending the corresponding trial.
