Last month, civil guards of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police and the Fiscal and Border Patrols of the Biscay Command detained one person and investigated three more, administrator and partners of a company dedicated to the sale of products derived from cannabidol (CBD), for an alleged crime of drug trafficking, the mercantile being also investigated.
The Civil Guard of Bizkaia, within its functions in relation to the State Fiscal Protection to prevent smuggling and other illicit trafficking, learned that a package destined to a place dedicated to the sale of products derived from Cannabidiol (CBD), located in the Old Town of Bilbao, allegedly contained marijuana.
The agents, within the framework of the current legislation, proceeded to open the package, verifying their suspicions, since it contained five bags with marijuana buds with a total weight of 2,680 grams.
The Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of the Biscay Command, after the arrest of the drug, requested the judicial authority to monitor and control the shipment, finding that the recipient was a local located in the Old Town of Bilbao, owned by a company dedicated to the sale of products derived from cannabidiol (CBD).
The civil guards proceeded to make a controlled delivery of the package, arresting the person who received it for a crime against public health – drug trafficking. Next, they inspected the premises, finding 543 grams of marijuana and 252 grams of hashish resin respectively, distributed in plastic wrappers of small grammage prepared for sale.
In addition, the perpetrators and the company were investigated as alleged perpetrators of both crimes against public health.
CANNABIDIOL (CBD)
Cannabidiol is one of the compounds that can be extracted from the Marijuana plant, although it is a legal substance only when it is extracted synthetically or from uncontrolled parts of the Cannabis plant, such as seeds or leaves not attached to flowering sums.
For their part, Cannabis flowers are always considered as narcotic drugs, regardless of their psychoactive contents, so their production, manufacture, export, import, trade, use and possession must be limited to medical and scientific purposes.
