The Gipuzkoan towns of Lezo and Mendaro hosted on Thursday a working session of the initiative launched by the Government of Spain throughout the country to bring the administration of the State to the citizen, regardless of where they live. The Secretary General of Territorial Coordination of the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Miryam Álvarez, accompanied by the Government delegate in the Basque Country, Denis Itxaso, participated in these sessions explaining the service to the mayors of the area and to the citizens.
‘The Administration Near You’ is the name of this program that started last November in its first phase to bring the General State Administration (AGE) closer to the territory and facilitate citizens living in smaller towns access to public services without having to travel. The general secretary and the delegate have held a meeting in Mendaro with their mayor Iñaki Arrangi, and with the mayor of Mutriku, José Ignacio Palenzuelay. The meeting was also attended by the general director of the AGE in the Territory, Agustín Torres, and the deputy delegate of the Government in Gipuzkoa, Guillermo Echenique. During the meeting, they deepened the program and requested their collaboration to publicize the project among neighbors.
In Lezo, its mayor Jesús María Martiarena received the representation of the Government. The attendees of this second meeting were able to process with the advice of the displaced AGE officials a digital certificate, access cl@ve, and have received information about some services of the General Administration of the State. “It is about offering a close, accessible and ultimately useful administration for citizens,” said Álvarez.
Public employees travel to the villages to inform, train and help citizens in their places of residence about the services offered by the General Administration of the State on new digital services, but also about the catalogue of services to improve their access. Among the procedures that can be carried out are the processing of the digital signature, renewal of the driving license or receiving information from programs such as the travel of the Imserso, the Young Cultural Bonus, information on the Social Security of domestic workers or advice on the procedure of Acquisition of Spanish Nationality by Residence. The most requested procedure in face-to-face sessions is the digital certificate.
In the Basque Country, AGE officials have already visited 47 municipalities with a population of between 500 and 8,000 inhabitants.
