Last week the National Police and the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate of Bizkaia carried out fifteen work inspections in commercial premises in Bilbao, Getxo and Bermeo
In the operation, ten people have been arrested for working in the Basque Country without a residence and work permit. Of these, eight have been opened an expulsion file for irregular stay and the other two, who already had a firm expulsion resolution, have been admitted to the Immigration Detention Center (CIE) of Murcia waiting to be returned to their countries of origin, in the Maghreb.
Likewise, a victim of labour exploitation of another police operation has been located, so the investigators activated the Framework Protocol for the Protection of Victims of Exploitation to inform her of her rights, including the possibility of being referred to assistance and housing resources dependent on the Autonomous Community.
The inspections in Bilbao took place in the Las Cortes district, with the participation of the Police Intervention Unit (UIP), the Ertzaintza and the Local Police of Bilbao. Likewise, in Bermeo, the local police of this municipality has participated together with the Basque Autonomous Police.
