70 teachers from the Foral Community have participated in the workshop “Effects of the consumption of pornography on minors and young people”, a training action organized by the Unit against Violence on Women of the Government Delegation in Navarre.
The session, held in the Pío Baroja Room of the INAP, was directed by the doctor in psychology and specialist in sexology José Luis García. The rapporteur analyzed the current situation of access of minors and young people to pornographic content, addressing its different typologies and warning about the increase of violent materials that can generate distorted understandings of affective and sexual relations.
During the workshop, the importance of raising awareness about the risks of the abusive and uncontrolled consumption of pornography, as well as the consequences it can bring for health, emotional development and the experience of sexuality, was highlighted.
The activity was presented by the director of the High Inspection of Education, Yolanda Salinas, and by the director of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women, Estrella Lamadrid. The rapporteur, José Luis García, is recognized as one of the most outstanding and committed specialists in the analysis of the impact of violent pornography on minors and adolescents.
This workshop is part of the actions of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of School Safety, directed to all educational centers of the Foral Community. The plan includes school competitions, talks and training activities aimed at teachers, apymas and students. In the past year, the program involved more than 76,000 schoolchildren from all over Navarre, 12% more than the previous year.
