The Government delegate, Alicia Echeverría, and the Superior Chief of Police of Navarre, Manuel Jesús del Collado, have presented today the new Documentation Update Points (PAD). They are located in the towns of Estella/Lizarra, Sangüesa/Zangoza, Lumbier and Falces. Specifically, they have visited the point installed in the City of Estella.
These Documentation Update Points are framed in the Digital Identity Plan designed by the National Police with the aim of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Public Administration and the accessibility of digital public services to citizens and companies.
Thus, 301 of these points have been acquired that are installed in different towns throughout Spain. To date, the PADs were located only in the National Police stations, from where citizens could renew the certificates of their National Identity Document and change the associated password. In this way, when the ID certificates expired, the people who resided in the municipalities that are not in the National Police demarcation had to travel to carry out this procedure.
With this new service, which was pioneered in the town of Brihuega, citizens will be able to carry out the procedures related to the renewal of their digital certificates in a more agile and comfortable way.
Easy access to MiDNI
The Documentation Update Points are also useful for processing the digital ID that is part of the Digital Identity Plan.
It should be remembered that, in order to have the digital ID, three phases must be completed: a prior registration that unequivocally links the identity of the citizen to a mobile phone number that allows the download of the MiID application, the virtualization of the ID and the verification of the process.
To make the registration it is necessary that the DNI is in force and its electronic certificates active, which can be done through the web www.midni.gob.es, in any of the Documentation Update Points (PAD) existing in police stations or municipalities or in any of the 290 Documentation Units of the National Police.
In any of these registration channels, the citizen will be informed of the access route to the application for download. During the registration, it is verified that the DNI is associated to that telephone number by means of single-use codes that the user must use to end the correct binding. Only a DNI can be associated with a mobile phone number.
After registering and downloading the application it will be possible to virtualize the DNI. However, the ID in physical format will coexist with digital identification through the mobile, which does not replace the traditional card.
