The Government Delegation in Navarre has awarded this year’s Meninas to the Coordinator of Women and/or Feminists for Equality in Navarre (COMFIN), the Legal Service for Women of the Pamplona Bar Association (SAM), the Institute of Legal and Forensic Psychology (PSIMAE), and the Institute of Secondary Education of Mendillorri. It is a recognition of organizations, institutions and people committed to the eradication of violence against women. Promoted by the Government Delegation for Gender Violence under the Ministry of Equality, the delivery of the Meninas is part of the commemorative events of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women held on November 25.
One of the recognitions is for COMFIN, the Coordinator of Women and/or Feminists for Equality in Navarre. It is a non-governmental organization that was born in 2012 as a result of the demand of the women’s associative movement to have a space for the meeting, for the strengthening of the associations themselves, and to create networks of work and accompaniment between women. COMFIN works in the promotion of equality, in feminism, in the public participation of the associations that make it up and in the strengthening of women’s associations. It develops projects of training and prevention of violence, or of good feminist practices.
Another of the Meninas is for the Legal Service for Women of the Pamplona Bar Association (SAM). Established in 1998, it aims to provide legal advice and assistance to women victims of violence or gender discrimination. It also has an emergency service of permanent guard located 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which is activated with a call to 112 and which is intended for women who, having been victims of abuse or sexual assault, demand the urgent intervention of a lawyer for guidance and accompaniment.
In addition, the Government Delegation in Navarre recognizes the PSIMAE, the Institute of Legal and Forensic Psychology, a psychological cabinet that has been working, for 25 years, in the field of violence against women, fundamentally, from three areas. On the one hand, with a legal and forensic area that offers advice to legal professionals and produces forensic and psychological expert reports. On the other hand, from a clinical perspective, since it offers psychological treatment to both victims and aggressors. And finally, with an area of training and research.
Finally, the Mendillorri Institute of Secondary Education will receive a Menina. It is a center of public ownership that understands education from a global and integral, inclusive and competitive perspective. It has a very active co-education team, which involves students in multiple activities, such as those they carry out each year around the commemoration of November 25. She also gives workshops of the Master Plan for Coexistence and the Improvement of School Safety in areas such as pornography, the prevention of violence against women or alternative masculinities.
The Meninas will be delivered at an event to be held in the Civican auditorium on November 27.
Invisible violence
Within the program of commemorative events of the 25N, the Government Delegation in Navarre has organized its VII Conference on Violence against Women. Under the title “Invisible Violence”, it will be held on November 21 in the Auditorium of Civican.
It will address expressions of male violence that may go unnoticed, such as economic violence or violence against women with intellectual disabilities. In the course of the day, we will also talk about vicarious violence, prostitution and the construction of the ideal of femininity and violence against women throughout history.
