The president of the public hotel chain, Raquel Sánchez, has detailed, today on her visit to the Parador de Olite, the actions that will be carried out for the integral reform of the Navarre establishment and that will involve an investment of close to 7M€. An economic injection of which Paradores directly contributes €6M and the rest will be carried out by the European Funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, through Turespaña.
The president of Paradores was accompanied by the delegate of the Government to the Foral Community of Navarre, Alicia Echevarría, the head of the Tourism Management, Management and Quality Service of the Government of Navarre, Manuel Bermejo, and by the deputy mayor of Olite, Jorge Bacaicoa, with whom she shared the detail of the projects.
The works contemplate the integral remodeling of its facilities to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of its guests, as well as a new decoration that will value the monumentality of the parador. A set of actions that reinforce the commitment to sustainability, improving energy efficiency, and heritage conservation, since all actions will be carried out taking into account the important artistic and historical value of the emblematic building.
Raquel Sánchez has explained the imminent actions that are going to be carried out in the establishment that the public hotel chain has in Navarra and that will force the temporary closure of the establishment due to the affectations of the works. Specifically, the Parador will temporarily close its doors on October 15 with an estimated duration of 17 months.
“Paradores wants to continue being an engine that drives the economic, cultural and patrimonial prosperity of this territory. When the Parador de Olite reopens its doors we will be ready to offer a renewed experience in a more sustainable and comfortable environment, without forgetting the mission that defines us: to protect cultural heritage and contribute to local development”, stressed the president of the public hotel.
The president of Paradores also wanted to highlight the excellent occupancy figures of the Navarre establishment, which closed the summer with an occupancy of more than 85%.
Refurbishment of common areas and rooms
The project also includes the complete renovation of the roofs of the historic building and thermal insulation, as well as the replacement of the entire exterior carpentry, which will significantly improve the energy efficiency of the property. In addition, the 16 rooms located in the historic building, as well as those located on the ground floor of the expanded building, will be completely renovated to include an accessible room and a family room, responding better to tourist demand and improving accessibility. Likewise, all the bathrooms of the rooms located on the first, second and third floor of the building will be reformed, replacing the bathtubs with shower plates to improve accessibility.
In terms of facilities, the project includes the execution of a new sanitation in the historic building, as well as the replacement of fire protection to adapt it to the new regulations and the electrical installation. Pipes, fancoils and radiators will also be replaced, as well as the hydraulic installation for the production of cold and heat.
Once the works are finished, an important project of integral and artistic decoration is also contemplated to value the monumentality of the property with an investment of one million euros.
“With these reforms, we aspire to remain the engine that drives prosperity and revitalizes communities,” said Raquel Sánchez.
All the performances will be carried out taking into account the historical and artistic value of the building and its cataloguing as a Property of Cultural Interest. In this sense, the interventions of Turespaña, under the European Funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan include the elaboration of a Conservation Master Plan that will allow an in-depth knowledge of the building and its needs. In addition, Turespaña will intervene in the monumental lighting of the façade, the conservation of the façades with problems of humidity and structural consolidation of the towers. These performances will total more than €600,000.
