The police forces operating in Navarre recorded a total of 15,968 criminal offences in the first half of the year, 2.5% more than those recorded in the same period of 2022, when they were 15,582. In this way, the crime rate of the last twelve months is located in the Foral Community at 50.9 criminal offenses per 1,000 inhabitants, slightly above the national average, which is 50.3.
They are data of Balance of Criminality published today by the Ministry of the Interior and which reflects the evolution of crime in Spain recorded in the first half of 2023 by the State Security Corps (National Police and Civil Guard), the Security Corps dependent on the Autonomous Communities (Ertzaintza, Mossos d'Esquadra and Foral Police of Navarra), and also by those Local Police Corps that provide data to the State Security Forces and Corps.
With respect to the first half of 2023, wilful homicides and attempted murders increased from 9 to 12 (33.3% more). Crimes against sexual freedom increase by 44.4%, from 126 to 182. With regard to sexual assaults with penetration, this increase is 2.4% (from 41 to 42), and it is higher - 64.7% - in the case of other crimes against sexual freedom (from 85 to 140).
Drug trafficking offences increased by 13.8% (from 65 to 74) and vehicle theft increased by 7.2% (from 69 to 74). The increase is 4.5% in the case of theft (from 3,183 to 3,326).
The number of burglaries in homes, establishments and other facilities remains unchanged at 738. Although in this chapter there is a 3.9% increase in burglaries in homes, which go from 467 to 485.
No kidnappings were recorded in the first half of the year, compared to 2 in the same period of the previous year. In addition, there was a 33.3% decrease in wilful homicides and completed murders (from 3 to 2) and a 5.9% decrease in serious and less serious crimes of injuries and tumultuous squabbling (from 170 to 160). Robberies are also reduced with violence and intimidation, and they do so by 2.6%, from 195 to 190.
Regarding cybercrime, there have been a total of 3,281 crimes, which represents an increase of 25.1% compared to the same period of 2022 (when it was 2,623). Computer scams increased by 29.7% (from 2,264 to 2,936) and other cybercrimes decreased by 3.9% (from 359 to 345).
Finally, the rate of arrests and investigations between January and June was 162 for every 1,000 criminal offences. And the percentage of clarified criminal offenses was 34.1%.
Breakdown by municipality
The Crime Balance shows the breakdown of municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants:
- In the Egüés/Eguesibar Valley, the number of criminal offences has increased by 9.2% (from 316 to 345). The crime rate is 30.4.
- In Pamplona/Iruña, criminal offences increased slightly by 1% (from 6,506 to 6,568). The crime rate is 73.3.
- In Tudela, the increase was 4.8% (from 1,155 to 1,210 criminal offences). The crime rate is 66.3.
- In Burlada/Burlata, the number of criminal offences remains unchanged (from 303 to 305), with a crime rate of 33.1 offences per 1,000 inhabitants.
