The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has just published the Interim resolution of the Strategic Project for the Economic Recovery and Transformation of the Agri-Food Sector in its Axis 1, which includes actions to support the agri-food industry. According to this proposal, 12,962,094 euros are awarded to the Spain Food Valley project that leads Navarra. Of these, 12,219,592 euros correspond to direct aid and 742,502 euros are in the form of a loan at zero interest.
A total of €161.5 million has been allocated to 281 projects involving 225 entities, which will contribute to the modernisation, sustainability and digitalisation of the agri-food sector. Of these grants, EUR 148 million are in the form of grants and the rest in the form of loans.
The agri-food PERTE consists of Axis 1 of support for the food industry; Axis 2 for the digitalization of the sector; and Axis 3 of promotion of R+D+I in the agri-food field. And each axis is managed by a ministry: Industry, Trade and Tourism; Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; and Science and Innovation. It is expected to have an impact on the economy of 3 billion and a net creation of 16,000 jobs.
This PERTE aims to promote the quality employment of the agri-food sector –especially in rural areas, where the agri-food business fabric has a greater presence–, strengthen its competitiveness and profitability –with measures focused on the automation of processes, sensorization of processes or sustainable procurement systems-, as well as the structuring of the rural environment –this PERTE will have the effect of dragging by its ability to develop its activity in areas far from urban centers, attracting employment and collateral services (transport and restoration), and will act as a socio-economic generator of the rural environment.
On August 1, 2022, the Order establishing the regulatory bases for the granting of aid to actions of industrial strengthening of the agri-food sector was published in the BOE. The corresponding announcement was published in the BOE of December 29, 2022. The deadline for submitting applications was March 15, 2023.
With the publication of these proposals, the processing of this aid continues, for which a deadline is now open for possible claims to the provisional motion for a resolution.
