February 17, 2026. The government delegate held an informative breakfast this morning organized by the Círculo de Economía, where he defended the commitment and investments of the Government of Spain in the Region of Murcia.
“Precisely today, I have the pleasure to announce that the Council of Ministers will approve today the conclusion of the contract of works of execution of the track assembly of the line of the High Speed Murcia-Almería in its Lorca-Vera section for a value greater than 108 million euros,” he said in his speech.
Lucas has reaffirmed before the attendees his personal and political commitment in defense of the interests and growth, development and prosperity of the Region of Murcia.
“You know what I mean, because the talent and commitment of economists, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs also contribute decisively to this. And that is why I want to reaffirm here today before you, as true generators of employment, wealth and well-being in the Region of Murcia, my intention to be useful,” he said.
Lucas has said that he has always defended and will defend, above all, the interests of the citizens of this land, including the water that the Region needs, a fair system of regional financing, the development of large infrastructures, the right to quality public services or access to decent housing.
“There are absolutely objective realities that I would also like to highlight, because the Spanish Government is demonstrating with concrete facts its commitment to the Region of Murcia. In the last seven years, the Region of Murcia has received 49.3% more resources from the State than in the previous seven years: An additional 9,472 million euros to strengthen our public services, support our companies and modernise our infrastructures,” he said.
The government delegate also recalled that between 2021 and 2025, the Executive has deployed a large-scale investment bet in the Region of Murcia amounting to 2,150 million euros from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with about 49,000 beneficiaries, 68.5% of them microenterprises and SMEs.
Lucas stressed that this investment reflects a clear commitment to energy transition, reindustrialization, the strengthening of the welfare state and strategic infrastructures for the Region of Murcia.
Finally, he has reviewed the great strategic infrastructures developed or planned by the Government of Spain in the Region in recent years, such as the advance of the Mediterranean Corridor, roads such as the A-33 between Yecla and Caudete, the North Arc, the Northwest Arc or the Reguerón Highway, among others.
Finally, Lucas has shown his willingness to dialogue to reach agreements with the Regional Government in order to improve certain indicators that always put us in the queue in matters essential to citizens.
“I cannot and do not want to resign myself to the fact that our region systematically occupies the top positions in public debt indicators in relation to GDP, to have the highest rates of inequality, to lead the school failure, to the fact that every year 1,400 people die waiting for dependency or to unbearable waiting lists in Health”, he concluded.
