Francisco Lucas has said that the Spanish Government is always on the side of farmers, but he has called for the responsibility of demonstrators to exercise their legitimate right of assembly without infringing the fundamental rights of other citizens.
In recent days, the government delegate has held several meetings with officials from the National Police, Civil Guard, DGT and State Highway Demarcation to coordinate the security device. In addition, he has received representatives of agricultural organizations to listen to their claims and study the protests they want to carry out.
“Farmers, like any other group, have every right to demonstrate, and the Government Delegation has an obligation to establish a preventive mechanism that guarantees public order, citizen security and the rights of all citizens, including guaranteeing the protesters’ own security,” said Lucas.
In any case, the demonstrators must obey the instructions of the agents of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard. In case of special needs of accessibility of emergency vehicles (sanitary, firefighters, etc.), the mechanisms for the concurrence of the necessary mobility will be enabled to ensure a safe transit in the minimum time required for its purpose.
The participating vehicles must be previously identified and marked with an order number that must appear in a relationship that will be delivered to the State Security Forces and Bodies.
The organizers will provide auxiliary means to alert the possible existence of retentions, in order to minimize the risk of reaching them.
All staff attending the rallies will be required to wear reflective vests.
In view of the expected traffic cuts caused by demonstrators in important communication channels, the Government delegation recommends to all citizens the use of alternative routes mentioned to reach their workplaces or studios.
