- The operational phase began on December 5 and will end on January 11, 2025.
- The government delegate has presented the device in Puente Tocinos, where he has recommended to citizens and merchants extreme caution to prevent street theft and crimes in online shopping
December 15, 2025. The government delegate announced today in Puente Tocinos the deployment of more than 1,500 National Police agents throughout the Region of Murcia to reinforce security during the Christmas holidays.
Francisco Lucas, accompanied by the Superior Chief of Police, has toured several shops in this town, where he has recommended citizens and traders to take precautionary measures to prevent theft and crimes in online shopping.
“We are going to deploy more than 1,500 agents in different days and shifts through the streets of the main cities of the Region of Murcia to ensure that purchases can be made with total security and guarantees,” explained Lucas while delivering the informative brochures that the National Police has prepared with information, advice and recommendations for users and merchants.
Operational Phase of the Plan
The government delegate explained that the Plan, which began on the occasion of the December Bridge and will end on January 11, 2026, is 12 years old in 2025 and aims to strengthen security in the commercial sector, with measures aimed at reducing infringements committed and providing a safer environment for traders and citizens.
This initiative is being implemented after a previous phase in which numerous meetings of the Citizen Participation delegates of the National Police have been held with the merchants of each locality to prepare a plan that provides security in areas of special commercial agglomeration during the Christmas holidays.
“To do this, we are going to increase the police presence, both of uniformed and civilian agents, especially in shopping streets, markets and other spaces where agglomerations occur. Because the priority for the Government Delegation and the National Police is to work so that all citizens can enjoy these holidays with absolute tranquility,” added the government delegate.
Safe Environment
The Safe Trade Plan aims to guarantee citizen security during the coming holidays, provide a safe environment for trade, improve objective and subjective security with the aim of preventing and avoiding the commission of thefts, scams, robberies and other crimes that usually occur taking advantage of the agglomerations in commercial and leisure areas.
“We have chosen Puente Tocinos because there is a very strong local trade here and we wanted to give it the importance it has. And, above all, to advise citizens to also consume in the nearby premises and shops,” said Ignacio Del Olmo, Senior Police Chief.
The president of the Association, of Merchants of Puente Tocinos, José David Escudero, has highlighted the importance of this plan to instil confidence among the businesses of the locality. “Because I would say that it is one of the districts with the most local commerce in Murcia,” he said.
The special deployment has reinforced the presence of troops in the fringes of greater commercial activity and influx of people, promoting police patrols in both uniform and civilian, so it will have an impact on citizen security objectively and subjectively. Thus, special attention will be paid to shopping centers, warehouses and establishments, which at this time accumulate large quantities of goods, to prevent robberies through butrons.
Recommendations of the National Police
From the National Police it is recommended, as far as possible, to avoid carrying large amounts of cash and make sure that no one follows you when you go to take money from the cashier or during the extraction and exit of the bank.
-Do not accept help from strangers who supposedly want to help you, sometimes they take advantage of an oversight to seize our money and valuables. The bags are well closed and in sight, crossed and never on the back.
The Superior Headquarters of the Region of Murcia has prepared a special operation in which agents of the Provincial Brigades of Judicial Police, Citizen Security and Information participate to prevent the commission of the aforementioned crimes and increase the security of the merchant and the citizen.
Citizens are reminded that when they become victims of any type of crime or witness them, they can call the National Police’s telephone number 091, a 24-hour hotline that responds immediately to citizens’ demands.
