April 8, 2025. The delegate of the Government has highlighted the importance and efficiency of the Agricultural Employment Promotion Program as a social and economic revulsive of the most depressed rural areas of the Region of Murcia after presiding over the meeting of the Regional Monitoring Commission, in which the allocation of 6,055,379.36 euros has been approved for the hiring of some 1,200 temporary workers in twenty-two municipalities of the Region of Murcia.
“These are funds provided entirely by the State Public Employment Service, which since 2012 has allocated more than 72 million euros to hire more than 17,000 workers,” said Mariola Guevara.
The objective of this program is to improve the situation of the group of temporary workers of the Special System of Agricultural Workers with the dual purpose of improving their training and employability and, in addition, to promote rooting in depressed rural areas.
This money is used to finance salary costs and company contributions for carrying out work on projects of general and social interest managed and contracted by the Local Corporations.
The start of the works varies according to the municipalities, as it is a condition that the execution of the project coincides with periods of low agricultural activity. For this year it is planned that the municipalities can start the projects during the second half of July or the beginning of August.
During the meeting of the Regional Monitoring Commission, the distribution of credit among the beneficiary municipalities has been agreed based on the market indicator and the historical criterion, according to the following table.
The twenty-two municipalities, grouped in four regional councils, Mula, Caravaca, Cieza and Lorca, must now submit their respective reports and request the necessary grants for the implementation of projects of general interest.
