- Mariola Guevara has toured the new facilities, which will represent a comprehensive improvement in the care of immigrants and in the work of National Police, lawyers and NGOs
November 12, 2024. The Government delegate, Mariola Guevara, has visited the new Temporary Assistance Center for Foreigners of Cartagena to supervise the last works before its final opening, which will be formalized in the next few days when the transfer of the last modules from the old CATE is completed.
The facility, located at the foot of Mount Galeras, will improve the comprehensive process of care for immigrants arriving by sea and the working conditions of the National Police itself, Frontex, lawyers and government organizations that normally make use of the facilities.
The new stay is designed exclusively for the reception and first steps of identification and application of the immigration procedures with the idea that immigrants stay in it for the minimum possible time and replaces the previous Espalmador Temporary Care Center, which came into operation in September 2022.
