- Mariola Guevara received the representatives of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Lorca and Comarca and invited them to a new meeting in September
30 July 2024. The delegate of the Government will propose to ADIF the opening of an information office of attention to the citizen in Lorca to improve direct communication with neighbors or neighborhood associations in relation to the development of the works of the High Speed in the municipality.
Mariola Guevara, as she made a commitment last week during a visit to Doña Inés’ hamlet, has received four representatives from the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Lorca and Comarca.
“I have been asked a series of questions, especially those related to the lack of fluid and direct communication so that they can know in advance all those actions that can affect or condition their movements and their daily life. So far, ADIF, at the express request of the city council, has always channeled the information through the council, but if that channel, as the neighbors say, does not work, I have committed to propose to ADIF the opening of this information office,” said Guevara.
The government delegate has invited the neighbors to a new meeting in September to inform them of the result of this proposal and the other issues addressed at today’s meeting.
“We are here to improve the lives of citizens, and if what they are demanding is fair and feasible, we will work to meet neighborhood demands, as has happened recently in Totana,” he added.
The neighborhood representatives thanked Guevara for her willingness and dialogue and expressed the importance of this type of meeting to have first-hand information. “We are a little angry, because we heard about things and we have come here to create a direct communication channel,” said José María García, president of the Association of Neighbors Lorca Centro Urbano.
The meeting was also attended by Pedro García and Pedro Coronel, president and vice-president of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Lorca and Comarca, and Ana María Martínez Sánchez, secretary of this same organization
A strategic work
On July 1, ADIF gave a new impetus to the development of the new Murcia-Almería High Speed Line (LAV) (200 km) with the mobilization of an investment of 60.4 million euros for the track assembly work of the line, while completing its platform. This line represents a strategic axis of the Mediterranean Corridor, which represents an investment of 3.5 billion euros.
As it passes through Lorca, Adif is building the stretch of platform that completes the 200km line and that comprises a 2.9km tunnel and the new Lorca-Sutulena station.
This action will provide Lorca with new railway connections, both of Cerca and of medium and long distance, and will promote its intermodality, when the new terminal is erected next to a bus station.
In addition, it will promote the integration and permeability of the railway in the city, by eliminating six steps at the level and generating new urban spaces for citizens.
