- The public employment offer for 2024, approved by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, calls for a total of 2,707 places for the National Police and 2,721 for the Civil Guard
June 11, 2024.- The Ministry of the Interior will again expand the staffing of the National Police and the Civil Guard with 5,505 new places this 2024. The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday the public offer of employment for the National Police, which amounts to 2,707 places, and for the Civil Guard, which is 2,721. Last April, the Government already approved the offer of another 77 places for officers of this body.
These offers of public employment apply for the two bodies a replacement rate of 125 percent, as established in Law 31/2022, of December 23, of General Budgets of the State for the year 2023, which were extended for this 2024.
Since 2018, the Ministry of the Interior has maintained the policy of convening more seats each year than the vacancies produced in the previous year. Since then, and including the call for this 2024, the department headed by Fernando Grande-Marlaska has offered a total of 34,220 new places for the Security Forces, 18,346 for the National Police and 15,874 for the Civil Guard.
This strategy of expansion of the staffs of both bodies has allowed the National Police and the Civil Guard, together, to reach 154,000 troops and thus exceed the loss of more than 13,700 places that occurred in the period 2012-2017.
2,707 national police more
In the case of the National Police, the call for public employment approved on Tuesday includes 100 places for the Executive Body Scale and another 2,607 places for the Basic Scale.
Of the latter, 521 places are reserved for professional military troops and sailors who have had at least five years of service in accordance with the provisions of Law 8/2006, of 24 April, on Troops and Sailors. Places that are not covered by this route will be accumulated to those in free time.
In addition, the call for 100 places for free opposition in the Executive Scale entails the call for another 150 places to be provided for internal promotion, from the category of sub-inspector, in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations on the Selection and Training Processes of the National Police.
2,721 New Civil Guards
As far as the Civil Guard is concerned, the public offer of employment for this 2024 amounts to 2,721 new places, of which 1,089 are reserved for professional soldiers of troops and sailors and another 200 for the students of the College of Young Guards that is based in Valdemoro (Madrid).
Both the places reserved for professional military troops and sailors and for young guards who are not covered for any reason will be accumulated in the pool of places of the free access turn.
It should be recalled that, last April, the Government approved the call for another 77 new places of the Civil Guard Officer Scale, included in the annual provision of Armed Forces places, since having a joint training process they are included in a different call.
As for the internal professional promotion in the Civil Guard, the call includes 360 places:
· 88 places for access to the Officer Scale through the internal promotion modality.
· 22 places for access to the Officers’ Scale through the change of scale modality for personnel of the non-commissioned officers’ and ropes’ scales.
· 250 places for access to the Non-Commissioned Officers Scale through the internal promotion modality.
Places reserved for access to the Officer Scale by means of the change of scale modality that are not covered for any reason will be accumulated to the quota of places for access to the Officer Scale by means of the internal promotion modality, or vice versa.
