June 3, 2024. The delegate of the Government presided this morning the Provincial Security Board convened to coordinate the security device on the occasion of the elections to the European Parliament on Sunday, June 9.
“A total of 2,014 officers between the Civil Guard, the National Police and local police will guarantee the security of the electoral process in the Region of Murcia in a day in which we have established a set of security and protection measures that allow and guarantee that the fundamental right to political participation can be exercised in optimal conditions of freedom and security and protected from those threats aimed at disrupting its normal development,” explained Mariola Guevara.
The electoral security device, with a marked preventive character, is structured in four large blocks: electoral process, personal data, disinformation and a physical security and cybersecurity room of the process.
To this end, the Ministry of the Interior has designed a comprehensive security system with a preliminary phase that took place during the pre-electoral campaign, between 15 and 23 May, the current alert phase, which covers the entire electoral campaign, from 00:00 hours on Friday, 24 May to 20:00 hours on Friday, 7 June, when the critical phase for the protection of end-of-campaign events, the day of reflection and voting until the closure of the polling stations, the transfer of documentation and the end of the electoral activity will enter into force.
Guevara has explained that, during these phases, and as long as the level of terrorist threat does not change, Level 4 of the Anti-Terrorist Prevention, Protection and Response Plan will continue to be activated.
