- The new delegate of the Government has taken office offering cooperation and institutional loyalty to the other administrations
- The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, has presided over an event in which he has transferred the support of the Executive so that the Region of Murcia remains one of the safest territories of the European Union
January 8, 2024. The new delegate of the Government in the Region of Murcia, Mariola Guevara, has taken office in an act that has been presided over by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, and in which he has defended the commitment of the Government of Spain with the Region of Murcia and its historical investments in strategic matters.
“I have the honour to represent the Government of Spain that has invested the most in history in the Region of Murcia; the one that with climate responsibility and through alternative and solvent works guarantees the water that irrigators, farmers and users need; the one that is promoting, like no other, a map of railway infrastructures that, overcome the inherent inconveniences that generate works of such magnitude, will place the Region of Murcia at the European vanguard in the services of High Speed, Neighbourhoods and Medium Distance,” said Guevara in his speech.
The delegate of the Government also highlighted the investments of the Central Executive in “strategic, costly and technologically cutting-edge projects on roads that, in addition to taking traffic out of our large cities to channel it safely and efficiently through modern communication routes, borders the Region of Murcia and expands and cheaply the possibilities of connecting goods and individuals with neighboring communities.”
Guevara has cited as more obvious examples the last stretch of the A-33 between Yecla and Caudete, which will be inaugurated next Thursday and which will allow to complete the trip between Murcia and Valencia through the interior in less than two hours, or the Northwest Arc, whose works, he has indicated, “advance at a very good pace and in a few months will significantly relieve traffic and pollution of the ring belt of the city of Murcia.
During her speech, the delegate of the Government recalled that the Government of Spain is tackling, with effective measures and millionaire actions, the degradation of the Mar Menor and guaranteeing the basic services provided by other administrations with an autonomous financing system that only in 2024 will make available to the Autonomous Community 4.8 billion euros and that in the Pedro Sánchez stage will have had resources worth 24 billion euros.
“In short, the best possible government to guarantee those state policies that have unquestionably sustained and guaranteed our welfare state during these last years of health crises and international geopolitical conflicts that have an obvious impact on our lives,” he added.
Guevara has defended the policy as a space of cooperation and institutional loyalty that it has offered to the different administrations, and that it hopes will be reciprocal. “Everything else will be noise, confusion and intentionally maintaining a social, political and media bubble in continuous feedback that generates a parallel reality as distorted and profound as the disaffection and distance it generates in the population,” he insisted.
He has finally had a special memory for his family and his people. “Those emotional handles where everything acquires its true meaning, my particular oracle that reminds me of where I come from, to know where I am going. And I come, friends and friends, from Alhama de Murcia, daughter of mechanic and housewife, granddaughter of farmer and peon walker. Modest people who educated me in those values of effort and justice that do not understand class and condition, who taught me to take advantage and believe in equal opportunities to be able to aspire to what one proposes. I hope, desire and will fight from my new responsibility for a Spain and a Region that create and promote the same values,” he concluded.
Intervention of the Minister of the Interior
For his part, Fernando Grande Marlaska has conveyed to him a message of support and encouragement from the entire Government of the nation “in the beautiful adventure that you begin at the head of this institution.”
“Mariola, all the members of the team at the head of this department are going to be your accomplices so that the Region of Murcia remains one of the safest territoritos in the European Union and an area of peace and freedom in which Murcianas and Murcianos exercise their rights and freedoms safely and without restrictions,” said Grande Marlaska, who recalled that this was also the case with his predecessors, Diego Conesa, Francisco Jiménez, Caridad Rives and José Vélez.
The Minister of the Interior reminded him that, as the new head of the State Security Forces and Corps in the Region of Murcia, “you are going to play a decisive role in our strategy of expanding police staffing, increasing material resources and improving the infrastructures that we make available to the National Police and Civil Guard in this land”
