Murcia, December 19, 2023 (MIVAU). The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU) has formalized an agreement with the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, to finance the construction of four homes in energy-efficient buildings intended for social rent. MIVAU will contribute 178,245 euros of the 1.2 million euros budgeted for the implementation of this project, from the NextGenerationEU funds within the framework of the Transformation and Resilience Recovery Plan (PRTR).
The agreement includes the aid for the construction of these homes under public promotion through the public company Lorca de Piso y Vivienda S.A. (SUVILOR), which will carry out the rebuilding of an old building owned by the City of Lorca, preserving the existing façades, as specified in the Special Plan of Protection and Integral Rehabilitation in the Historic Artistic Complex of the municipality of Lorca.
New agreements
Through this aid plan, MIVAU aims to finance the increase in the public housing stock for social rent or affordable housing, through new construction promotions on publicly owned land. These homes will be part of the public park for a minimum period of 50 years and their consumption of non-renewable primary energy must be at least 20% lower than the requirements required in the Technical Building Code. The works must be completed by June 30, 2026.
For this program, endowed with 1 billion euros, 14.7 million euros were already transferred to the Region of Murcia in the year 2022, and the financial commitment has been formalized from the annuality of the year 2023 for the same amount, from which 10.2 million euros have been transferred to date. The assistance provided is up to 700 euros per square meter of useful living space with a maximum of 50,000 euros per house.
Previously, three agreements had been signed with the Region of Murcia within the scope of this program, for the financing of 550 homes for social and affordable rent in twelve actions in the municipalities of Murcia, Molina de Segura and Cartagena, with a contribution from MVAU of 26.6 million euros. In this way, the new agreement signed today has formalized to date the construction of a total of 554 homes in thirteen actions within four municipalities of the community, with a contribution from Mitma of 26.8 million euros.
