Saturday, November 18, 2023. The Emergency, Reception and Referral Center that the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration has launched at the Naval Hospital of Cartagena, welcomes from this Friday the 120 first migrants who will be housed there. The first phase of this device is already available and in the following weeks it will be progressively expanded to reach a maximum capacity of 600 seats.
Accem is the entity that will be in charge of the management of this new resource, which has entered into operation without any type of incident. To this device is added the one opened a week ago at the General Arteaga Aqueduct in Madrid. For its part, the Primo de Rivera Quartering in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) will open in the next few days.
These devices, in addition to the own resource opened in Mérida in the hostel ceded by the city council, will allow to increase the capacity of the reception system by more than 3,700 places and gradually release, depending on the arrivals, those opened in other resources used circumstantially in recent weeks to address the peak of arrivals to coasts that has occurred.
