June 29, 2023. The incorporation during the next few days of the new promotions that have passed the initial training process in the academies of each body places the staff of Civil Guard and National Police in the Region of Murcia in a historical figure of 3,883 agents, 454 more than in 2017, representing an increase of 13.2%.
Among them, a total of 2,010 troops, 805 police and 1,205 civil guards will be part of the special device of Operation Summer designed by the Ministry of Interior to support the regional tourism sector and thus guarantee the protection and security of all citizens, nationals and foreigners, who come or move through the Region of Murcia to enjoy its summer holiday period.
The device, presented this morning by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, begins on July 1 and will last until September 30 with the aim of increasing citizen security in tourist areas, minimizing the risks associated with criminal activity.
Throughout Spain, the total number of agents stands at 156,453, which is the highest number of State Security Forces and Corps personnel in history.
The previous national record high had been set in December 2011, when the State Security Forces and Corps registered a total of 155,149 troops. From that date, the National Police and Civil Guard squads experienced a sharp reduction process that led to the two squads totalling only 142,072 in December 2017. The current figure of 156,453 National Police and Civil Guard officers represents an increase of 10% compared to 2017.
The organic growth of the staff of the National Police and Civil Guard has been possible thanks to the five successive offers of public employment convened on the joint initiative of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function and the Ministry of the Interior, all of them with replacement rates greater than one hundred percent.
PROTECTION OF THE TOURISM SECTOR
