- The government delegate announces the start of the new service, to which the conditions of free recurring titles will be applied and will have its own tariff conditions and identity
- From Monday a total of 20 daily circulations are established on working day and twelve on Saturdays and Sundays, in both cases in both senses
March 18, 2023. From next Monday, Renfe will launch the new Proximity services between Murcia and Cartagena, which will allow citizens to use this new product in a total of 124 weekly circulations, as announced today by the government delegate in the Region of Murcia.
José Vélez has indicated that the new Proximity service will have a total of 20 daily circulations, ten per direction, on working days, and 12 on Saturdays and Sundays, six per direction in both cases.
This service, included as Public Service Obligations (PSOs) and to which the conditions of gratuitousness of recurring titles established by the Government will apply, will provide an offer of medium frequency expired, with tariff conditions and identity of its own.
Vélez has shown his satisfaction with the news, which according to him, responds to the value of the word given and the commitments made by Renfe and the Ministry of Transport Mobility and Urban Agenda with the Region of Murcia.
“With this step we offer an alternative to the citizens of the Region who have to move between these two cities, which is a great help for workers, students and families who have to face the difficulties arising from the increase in the price of fuel,” he said.
With the Proximity services, a new category of OSP is established for which Tariff 1, the tariff of Regional trains, will be applied, which means a 25% price reduction on the current Medium Distance trains that are governed by Tariff 4.
The Proximity Service is defined as a commercial offer aimed at responding to the needs of citizens on their usual journeys, for reasons of work, leisure or studies, through an appropriate train offer, which facilitates them in a sustainable way.
