The head of the Government Delegation in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, has been surprised by the statements made by the Vice-President of the Autonomous City, Miguel Marín, in relation to the process of relocation of unaccompanied migrant minors.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city recalled that this process is being carried out with full coordination and constant collaboration with the technicians of the City, who are actively participating in the working meetings and in the follow-up of each dossier. “The cooperation between administrations has been fluid and constructive, always with the aim of guaranteeing the protection and the best interests of the children affected,” he said.
Likewise, the Delegation refutes the statement made by Marín that Catalonia will not receive minors and they have even pointed out that it could be one of the territories that receives minors from Melilla.
At this point, the Government Delegation considers that the statements of the Vice-President of the City may be the result of ignorance of the subject, since in recent weeks there have been multiple technical and coordination meetings in which work has been rigorously and transparently carried out.
The Government of Spain and the Government Delegation in Melilla underline that this process responds to a legal framework recently approved and has as its axis the protection of migrant children and institutional cooperation to give an effective and humanitarian response to the situation of migratory contingency.
