The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has valued the special security device that, as in previous editions, has been launched on the occasion of the patron saint’s festivities “so that we have, as every year, a safe fair, without incidents”.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, in a live interview offered in the Melilla television booth installed in the fairgrounds, has explained that security planning starts, every year, from the analysis of the previous device and the recorded incidents, in order to reinforce prevention and coordination.
In this edition, the operative has 411 agents of the National Police and 260 of the Civil Guard, in addition to the collaboration of Local Police, Firefighters, Civil Protection and private security.
Moh thanked “all the professionals of the State Security Forces and Corps and the rest of the people who watch over our security, because their effort and commitment are fundamental for Melilla to enjoy a quiet party”.
As he explained, the device is transversal and integrates all the units of both bodies, including the Judicial Police, the UFAM and specialized teams in the care of victims of male violence and sexual assaults. In this area, the Government Delegation also works in coordination with the Festival and Gastronomy Houses to know how to act in the event of an incident.
Drones and video surveillance systems
Moh, in addition, explained that the deployment focuses especially on the fairgrounds, with the presence of the National Police; in the area of Puerto Noray, under the responsibility of the Civil Guard; and in the rest of the city, where measures are reinforced so as not to neglect citizen security. To this are added technological means such as drones and video surveillance systems.
The Delegate has stressed, however, that the work focuses not only on responding, but also on prevention, protection and immediate action, with special attention to those events that concentrate a large number of people, such as concerts or the Caseta Joven.
During the TV interview he recalled that the device coincides with the final phase of Operation Strait Pass, as well as with the so-called “Feriante Operation”, which requires an additional effort at border, port and airport. “All the people involved put their commitment and professionalism to Melilla
