The Head of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women in Melilla, Laura Segura Sarompas, participated in the meeting of the State Network of Units Against Gender Violence of the Ministry of Equality, held yesterday in Madrid with the aim of strengthening coordination between territories and continuing to improve care for victims.
The meeting, which brought together the leaders of all the units, has served to analyze recent advances, share experiences and establish new joint lines of work. Segura Sarompas stressed the importance of “maintaining solid and permanent coordination” to ensure an effective and homogeneous response throughout the country to any form of male violence.
During the session, key issues have been addressed, such as the Plan of Reinforcement of coordination and services planned for the Christmas period of 2025, a particularly sensitive time in terms of gender violence and in which prevention and care devices are intensified.
In addition, the proposal for a plan of actions and training for 2026 has been presented, based on the mapping of needs detected in the different territorial units. This plan will include new lines of work to improve protocols, professional training and collaboration between administrations and specialized entities.
Another item on the agenda has been the approval of the calendar of meetings of 2026 of the state network, in order to ensure a constant monitoring of policies and advances in each territory. A proposal has also been made for training visits, which will include trips to services and programs such as Cometa, Atenpro, funds… as well as entities dedicated to raising awareness and combating trafficking.
The meeting has also served to address the annual report of 2025 that will be prepared by all the Coordination Units against Gender Violence, and the news scheduled for next year have been presented.
Christmas Campaign
The representative of Melilla has valued the meeting positively and has stressed that meetings of this type allow “to update strategies, unify criteria and reinforce the joint commitment to protect and accompany victims with maximum effectiveness”.
In this regard, it has valued the improvement of the action protocols, the strengthening of the network of available resources and the need to promote prevention and awareness actions in different areas of society.
Special chapter of this event has had the Plan to strengthen services and interinstitutional coordination against violence against women during Christmas and that will have the corresponding translation to Melilla and the rest of the territories.
This strengthening of services and inter-administrative coordination is based on the obligation to guarantee the continuity, accessibility and effectiveness of resources and services for comprehensive care for victims of male violence, especially at times of the year, such as the Christmas period, when circumstances may arise that increase the vulnerability of women and exposed minors.
These actions are also carried out in accordance with the guiding principles of the recently renewed State Pact, with special attention to comprehensive protection, inter-administrative coordination, victim-centred action and the improvement of management and public response systems.
After the meeting Segura Sarompas and the rest of the participants of the meeting went to the control center of the devices for telematic monitoring of compliance with the measures and penalties of estrangement in the field of gender violence and sexual violence, known as the Cometa service, where they were able to know this system at first hand and check its operation and response in real time.
