This Wednesday and Thursday, 5 and 6 November, the MelillaSkills competition is held at the Integrated Vocational Training Centre (CEIP) ‘Reina Victoria Eugenia’, in which 13 profiles of various Professional Families participate, in addition to one in exhibition mode, belonging to four educational centers in the city.
This competition will select the students who will represent Melilla in the state edition of “Spainskills”, which will take place next February.
The conference will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the opening ceremony by the Provincial Director of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports (MEFPyD), Elena Fernández. Afterwards, the students will compete from 9:30 to 13:30 and from 16:30 to 19:30 hours.
On Thursday the tests will continue from 9:00 to 13:30 hours. On the same day, the General Secretary of Professional Training of the MEFPyD, Esther Monterrubio, will visit the different positions of the competition and, in the afternoon, will preside over the closing event, which will take place at the Hotel Melilla Puerto.
In addition, during the morning of Thursday, César García, of the Bertelsmann Foundation and CaixaBank Dualiza, will give the workshop “Orientation strategies towards the new Dual VET”, aimed at counselors and counselors of all educational centers in the city, from 10:00 to 14:00 hours.
In this edition of “MelillaSkills” three more profiles participate than in the last competition held in 2024, in the following specialties: Electrical Installations, Florist, Aesthetics, Automotive Technology, Kitchen, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Plumbing and Heating, ICT Network Systems Administration, Cloud Computing, Web Development, Social Health Care, Window Dressing and Bakery, as well as Pharmacy and Parapharmacy, which participates in exhibition mode.
During these two days, the students must pass a series of tests defined by the Skills tutors, with the aim of highlighting the level of development of technical professional skills that they acquire in their educational centers.
The ‘Spainskills’ are held biennially and students from different Professional Families from all the autonomous communities and cities participate in them. The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports organizes and promotes this initiative as an informative instrument of the training offer and as a stimulus for students, teachers and companies.
