The Government Delegation in Melilla is preparing a special and fully inclusive Christmas thanks to a collaborative project between the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia and Aspanies Full Inclusion, which will combine creativity, training and social integration in this year’s Christmas activities.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, Sabrina Moh, has presented the initiative accompanied by the Provincial Director of Education, Elena Fernández Treviño; the Head of the Educational Programs Unit, María Victoria Menchacatorre; the Director of the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia, Pedro Cortes, and the manager of Aspanies, Cristina Casado, highlighting that it is "a beautiful and collaborative project for Christmas 2025".
The head of the Delegation explained that, in addition to the traditional interior decoration made by Aspanies, this year they will also have exterior lighting made by the students of Vocational Training.
“We have met to finalize the details and coordinate an activity that will involve three training cycles - electricity, bakery and pastry, and image and sound - in addition to the collaboration of Aspanies Full Inclusion,” said the Delegate.
The decoration will begin on November 24 and will culminate on December 3, coinciding with the International Day of People with Disabilities. On that day, the Delegation will hold an event open to the public with the official lighting of the Christmas lighting, enlivened by the students of the Image and Sound cycle and accompanied by a tasting of products made by the students of Bakery and Pastry.
Moh stressed the inclusive and participatory nature of the project, thanking the involvement of both the teachers and students of the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia and the users and monitors of Aspanies. “We want the citizens of Melilla to be able to enjoy the result of this exciting and innovative initiative, which unites education, creativity and inclusion,” he said.
Working in a real environment
For his part, the Director of the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia highlighted the educational and social importance of the project. “We are proud to be able to participate in such a comforting and inclusive activity.”
In addition, Pedro Cortés has pointed out that this initiative “represents an opportunity for our students to work in a real environment, as true professionals”.
Finally, Cristina Casado recalled the close collaboration that Aspanies maintains every year with the Government Delegation, valuing the initiative as an opportunity to continue promoting full inclusion. “For our kids it’s a party; they get excited about the designs and each year they bring new ideas. These kinds of activities are the best example of real inclusion, which is our daily goal,” he said.
In total, it is planned that between 40 and 50 young people will participate - including those from Aspanies and those from the training cycles - who will work together in the preparations for a more inclusive, creative and collaborative Christmas in Melilla.
