The Local Police Headquarters has hosted a new meeting of the Local Security Board in which the coordinated security device between the State Security Forces and Bodies (FyCSE) and the Local Police has been addressed on the occasion of the patron saint’s festivities, which will begin on August 30.
As every year, the operation will be deployed in several phases. Currently, work is being done on the first of them, focused on the assembly and supervision of the fairground, in order to guarantee security from the beginning of the festivities.
During the Fair, the device will be composed of 411 officers of the National Police Force and 260 of the Civil Guard, in addition to 384 local police officers, who will serve continuously throughout the holidays. The Civil Guard, in particular, will strengthen surveillance in areas such as Puerto Noray, while the National Police and the Local Police will assume most of the actions in the fairgrounds and its surroundings.
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has assured that “the main objective is that the Fair can be developed with all the guarantees, along with the enjoyment of the Melillense citizenship”. All this, “thanks to the previous work and the joint and coordinated planning, which allows us to minimize as much as possible any type of incident”.
In this meeting, the details of the security operation have been finalized and all the activities programmed during the holidays have been studied, as well as the specific devices that will be activated in each of them.
The meeting was attended by the Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, the Councilor for Citizen Security, José Ronda, as well as commanders and representatives of the Civil Guard, National Police and Local Police.
