“The lords of the Partido Popular can say anything, but when it comes to the truth, when they have to agree with Vox, and it has been shown as when they have done it in the municipalities, they have gone through the ring of Vox issues, of any kind,” said the Provincial Director of Education in Melilla, Elena Fernández Treviño.
In statements to Television Melilla, Treviño has warned that these agreements feed Islamophobic and exclusive attitudes in our country. “We have seen that they have suppressed cultural events, we have seen how they have been removing posters, signage, even acts that have to do with the LGTBI movement in cities and small municipalities,” he stressed.
As pointed out by the PP’s alliances with Vox, they demonstrate the acceptance of retrograde approaches and measures that affect culture, LGTBI rights and religious freedom.
“The theory is very well learned, but in practice we have seen how they are able to agree with Vox”, a party that, as he recalled, “denies violence against women, wants to suppress all acts derived from LGBTI policy, cuts the cultural budget and seriously attacks the Muslim community in cases like the one we have seen in Jumilla”.
Direct implications in Melilla
The Provincial Director has insisted that these coincidences between PP and Vox “would have direct implications in the city of Melilla” and has called for maintaining a model based on inclusion, respect and democratic coexistence. In this regard, it has reaffirmed the commitment of the central government to the defense of religious freedom and fundamental rights, urging all institutions to work for a plural Melilla that respects its diversity.
“At the moment of truth, the PP agrees with them and they would have no problem doing it again. That would undoubtedly have direct implications for the city of Melilla and that is undeniable,” he said. “Then, you can put everything theoretical you want, but when it comes to truth and practice, you have shown with facts that you are able to agree with Vox and you would do it again,” he said.
Finally, he said that “the PP shows that it is able to override any constitutional right of any civil freedom in order to come to power.”
