The Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in Melilla has held a meeting with associations and organizations of the city with which it has made an assessment of the situation of Gender Violence in Melilla in the first quarter of 2025, in terms of the number of complaints and use of State services in the field of gender violence.
The meeting, headed by the Head of the Unit, Laura Segura, was attended by representatives of the Red Cross, Women in Equality, Melilla Welcomes, Fiet, Doctors of the World, UNHCR, ACCEM, CEAR, Red Cross, White Cross and the 24-hour Crisis Center.
The meeting dealt with calls to 016 - Telephone Information and Legal Advice Service on Gender Violence -, the number of registrations in the Telephone Service for Care and Protection of Victims of Gender Violence, the number of women with police protection (active cases with a high level of risk), the number of protection orders and measures for gender violence, active cases in viogén.
At the same time, the number of temporary residence and work authorization concessions for foreign women victims of gender violence and the number of inmates who have served sentences in penitentiaries with crimes of gender violence this 2025 have been reported.
It has addressed realities and actions carried out in cases of gender violence according to law 1/2004 but also in the work developed in other situations of violence against women (sexual violence, risk of trafficking, trafficking and exploitation, asylum cases, etc. ), highlighting situations that may affect women in situations of special vulnerability and minors.
The Bureau of the Unit for Coordination against Violence against Women and the entities present addressed various issues of interest, such as the training and awareness-raising activities and activities carried out and to be carried out in the field of gender violence, coordination between entities and with the rest of the administrations, the resources of the State and care from the 24-hour Comprehensive Care Service for Victims of Sexual Violence, the protocols for action with the various entities and mapping of entities and services. Pooling of indicators of sexual exploitation and trafficking, information on the renewed State Pact and the funds, information on the spaces that are added to the Violet Point instrument or the updated data of Feminicides, among others.
In addition, information on the latest studies on violence against women has been discussed, such as the study “The coordination of parenting as a new form of institutional violence” and the “Macrostudy. Trafficking, sexual exploitation and prostitution of women: a quantitative approach”.
