The Provincial Director of Education of Melilla, Elena Fernández Treviño, has highlighted the importance of the March for Equality, an initiative organized by the CEIP Hippodrome and which has had the participation of almost all the Infant and Primary centers of the city, since “it is an extracurricular activity that comes to reinforce the work that the CEIPs do for equality throughout the course, but with this activity what they do is put a golden brooch at the end”.
Fernández Treviño, who has attended this initiative accompanied by a large group of heads of the Provincial Directorate of Education, which has highlighted the work carried out by CEIP Hipodromo and its director, Juan Montañés, has thanked the commitment of the teachers, those responsible for equality and all the people involved in the organization of the march, stressing the need to “continue growing in the accompaniment of this initiative”.
Looking ahead to next year, the Provincial Director has said that she expects the incorporation of secondary schools, with the aim of turning the march into “a transforming seed of changes that break discriminatory chains”.
“The children of today will be the adults of the future, the ones who will change the world. Therefore, it is essential to continue supporting acts like this and to value the work that is done for equality from schools,” he said.
The Provincial Directorate of Education has expressed great satisfaction for being able to support this initiative year after year and continue promoting the values of equality and coexistence in the educational community of Melilla.
