“Having this infrastructure, we are not going to delay anything for a second, but we are going to do everything following the established steps so that as soon as possible the University Hospital can be inaugurated and operational.”
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, regretted that the Autonomous City took 7 months to grant the license of first occupation of the University Hospital of Melilla (HUME). Asked about this issue during an appearance before the media, she has assured that as soon as they have the notification of the Ingesa, the procedures will begin so that it can be inaugurated and launched.
However, the head of the Government Delegation has ironized with the announcement of the Minister of Public Works, Miguel Marín, on the social network X, in which he boasted of having taken “less than a minute” to sign the license. “I want to make just one nuance, from last week until today it is more than one minute, one minute is 60 seconds, which maybe it is important to nuance that issue,” he said.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city has explained that once obtained the first occupation license, they need the sanitary authorization of operation of a center, service or health establishment, which must also be granted by the Autonomous City. “From there, we would start with the transfer to carry out that opening in phases,” he explained.
Sabrina Moh has clarified that “since the first occupation license is acquired, you do not go to the next minute to the hospital, but you do so as soon as possible”. Thus, he has assured that all the planning for the transfer has been done while this first occupation license was granted.
Asked about this issue, she defended that the transfer plan has been addressed in the different meetings that have been maintained in a coordinated manner with the professionals of the Ingesa, and has questioned who they intend to “call into question” the work of the professionals.
Hospital, as soon as possible
The Delegate of the Government has made it clear that the work is done and that the transfer is planned, and that the objective of the Delegation of the Government and the Ministry of Health is to make this infrastructure available to the people of Melilla as soon as possible.
“We are in a hurry to be able to implement it as soon as possible, because it is an infrastructure that, in addition to the substantial investment of 120 million euros, what it does is improve the quality of service and the working conditions of the staff that provides service, as well as the citizens of Melilla,” he said.
The head of the Delegation did not want to talk about exact dates for its inauguration, however, she has said that she hopes to have the Hospital already in operation in the summer.
Finally, he assured that “this is our goal, in this we have been working for everything, since we arrived, from minute one”. “Since we came to the Government in 2018, our commitment was to start the works, finish the Hospital and make it available to citizens. We have fulfilled that commitment and, therefore, to finalize it we will have to implement it. That is our main objective and interest,” he said.
