The Government Delegation has hosted a meeting today to finalize the details for the import of fish from Morocco through the Beni-Enza border crossing.
An import that is expected to occur next week, predictably, on Tuesday.
The meeting chaired by its holder, Sabrina Moh, was attended by the Director of the Functional Area of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Government Delegation, Isabel Bassets; the Head of the Customs Unit, Daniel Imbroda; representatives of the Civil Guard Command and the owner of the Sanitary Control Post located in the Port of Melilla.
This week Melilla has registered three commercial shipments of household appliances to the neighboring country and, continuing with the progressive normalization of the passage of goods, work is already being done on the import of products from Morocco. In particular, the passage of fish is being addressed, something that has been a demand of the Melillense citizens and many entrepreneurs in recent years.
Sabrina Moh has explained that the facilities of the Health Control Point are finalized and prepared for the inspection of fish, so she has made it clear that, the entry of fish can occur again with total normality from this moment.
The head of the Government Delegation has highlighted the steps that are being taken towards the full normalization of commercial relations with the neighboring country, something that responds to a demand of the Melillense citizens that had been occurring since 2020.
“As the head of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albars, has pointed out, customs, both Spanish and Moroccan, continue to work today with total normality so that these freight passes continue and so that it is so from now on and without any return,” he concluded.
