According to the latest statistics published by the National Social Security Institute (INSS), the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) payroll in October reached 2,833 households in Melilla, where 11,460 people live.
The average amount of the benefit is 542.43 euros per month per household in our city and, overall, this month’s payroll has amounted to 3.2 million euros.

In cumulative terms since June 2020, when this benefit was launched, in the midst of a pandemic, the IMV has reached 4,375 homes and protected the 17,499 people who are part of them. Where 8,742 are boys, girls and adolescents, practically 50% of the total.
Since the entry into force of this policy, Social Security has allocated 72.54 million euros to pay the payroll for IMV benefits.
The IMV is a benefit aimed at preventing the risk of poverty and social exclusion of people who live alone or are integrated into a coexistence unit and lack basic economic resources. In addition, one of its main objectives is to address child poverty.
