The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has announced that the departure for Employment Plans goes from 11 to 13 million euros.
In statements to the media, the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city referred to the call published by the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) for the autonomous cities of Melilla and Ceuta and which includes a total of 25 million euros -13 for our city and 12 for the sister city- for the granting of subsidies for the financing of the labor insertion program through works and services of general and social interest, in collaboration with organs of the General Administration of the State, in the territorial scope of the cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
The head of the Government Delegation has made it clear that work is being done to combine the sentence, which has conditioned the Employment Plans since it “obliges us to develop different criteria”, with the aim of improving the employability of the most vulnerable groups in the city. “We are working tirelessly on that,” he said, recalling that “it has taken many months for the Employment Plan to become a reality.”
Moh has pointed out that until the memory and the resolution of granting this economic amount materializes, the exact number of people to whom this Employment Plan will benefit in our city will not be known and has indicated that the citizens will be informed as more information is available.
City Proposal
Asked about the proposal of the Autonomous City to make an Employment Plan with a budget of 5 million euros, Moh has clarified that this budget would not go to the Government Delegation but to the Autonomous City itself, since the letter that the local Executive has sent makes it clear that what it intends is “to make this amount available to the Government Delegation so that it makes it available to the SEPE and the SEPE again to the Autonomous City, so that it is the Autonomous City that can implement Employment Plans of local entities.”
Having clarified this, Moh stressed that the Government Delegation is always willing to collaborate and work for what is best for the Melillense citizens and has advanced that the Autonomous City “as soon as possible” will have the answer.
The Delegate explained that, while the PP Executive “first launches the message to the public and then makes an offer”, the entity that she leads “first we study and analyze it, and then we respond”.
In her statement to the media, the Delegate stressed that the proposal of the 5 million euros proposed by the Government of the City is not for the Delegation but for the City itself to manage and recalled that the Government of Imbroda “has lost five million euros for not having done its duties in time and form”.
“The Autonomous City has lost 5 million euros because it has not been able to execute in time and form the employment plans that they had to carry out in the period 2023-2024”, he recalled and pointed out that while the Delegation and the Provincial Directorate of the SEPE “were working to be able to solve the problem that we had with the Employment Plans and that this year they could go out and benefit the Melillense citizens, they -in reference to the popular- were determined to throw a smokescreen to cover that they had lost 5 million euros”.
“They only had to sign a contract before the 20th of December and they have not been able to do so,” he said, noting that “no one can escape the fact that the Autonomous City, aware of this loss of money since December 2023, would not have been silent until the Socialist Group Member of the Assembly Elena Fernández Treviño made it public in a plenary session.”
“It escapes no one that, if the Government Delegation had had competence in this matter, that it did not have competence because the City directly agreed with the SEPE without going through the Government Delegation, the people would not have obtained the information on the loss of 5 million euros ten months later, they would have done so at the same time,” he argued.
And, given that “they have not been able to materialize it, the Melillense citizens have paid for it, losing these 5 million”, he said and pointed out that the way they can now amend it is to put the focus on the Government Delegation and say that it is the Government Delegate that does not accept that offer. And that’s not the case,” he said.
“Perhaps it is what they call the circular economy,” he said, given that the objective is that these 5 million euros leave the Ministry to the Government Delegation, so that they go to the SEPE to return again to the Ministry, to the Autonomous City.
However, Moh has insisted that they are studying all the proposals given that “we are always going to work for the Melillense citizens by making a serious policy and a credible policy”.
