The Multipurpose Centre for Elderly Services of the Imserso in Melilla, popularly known as the Senior Citizens’ Residence, has started this lunchtime a week full of activities to celebrate the patron saint’s festivities.
The Delegate of Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, together with the Territorial Director of the Imserso of the city, Verónica Aznar, and the Director of the Center, Ibrahim Molina, has appeared before the media to give an account of the agenda program and to invite the whole of Melilla society to join the celebration and thus accompany the residents, their families and the workers of the center.
The head of the Government Delegation pointed out that, just as the inauguration of the Fair was held in the Social Center of Senior Citizens this past Friday, today they have done the same in the Residence “so that our senior citizens can also enjoy our patron saint’s parties in this center” and that, as is done with the other activities throughout the year, these serve “as a meeting and coexistence with family, with loved ones and with the workers themselves”.
Moh thanked the Territorial Director of the Imserso, the Director of the Residence, the entire management team, and all the working people of the center “who are always attentive to each and every detail and with the utmost professionalism and with the greatest affection so that our elders can also enjoy each and every one of the activities we celebrate in this city and in this case the 2024 Patron Saint’s Day”.
“They are going to be able to enjoy the fair in some moments, since there are also activities programmed in the Real de la Feria, but what is also intended is that they do it in the center itself so that they can feel and live the fair in the Residence,” he explained.
The Delegate has also thanked all the artists and groups that are going to act in the Polyvalent Center during these days in an altruistic way and has had words to wish a happy party to all the users, to all the residents and relatives and to all those “who contributing their bit of sand, their work, their professionalism, empathy and affection, and have organized a whole battery of activities so that our elders can enjoy”.
Color Ballet Performance
The Territorial Director of Imserso, for her part, explained that the program activities as well as those organized by the Autonomous City, in which the elderly will participate seek to “create an effective environment, of joy and coexistence”.
Today, the inauguration has counted on the performance of the Ballet of Colors, which will accompany the center throughout the week with different dances. Tomorrow the center will host the performance of the Flamenco School while on Wednesday a paella will take place.
As Aznar has explained, on Thursday users will move to the fair itself to taste tapas and that they can “remember with nostalgia and much joy experiences they had of Feria”, and on Friday the center will host a special breakfast before giving way to the closing of the parties.
Increase participation
Finally, Ibrahim Molina has stressed that all the programmed activities have as their main characteristic that they are participatory on the part of both family members, residents, and workers. “Initiatives that have been born by them and we see how, one more year, participation increases, not only in the variety but also in the way we proceed, in the continuous improvement of activities,” he said.
Another characteristic, he added, is that “we are trying to encourage our residents from the center to participate in all possible activities that are carried out from the Autonomous City, to open that line of not decoupling our elders to the social life of the city.”
