The Social Center for the Elderly has inaugurated the Patron Saint’s Festivities for another year. The Delegate of Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, together with the Territorial Director of the Imserso of the city, Verónica Aznar; and the Director of the Center, Ramón Paque, attended this lunchtime the inauguration and opening of the ‘Rincon de la Alegría’.
The head of the Government Delegation stressed that this space “which is nothing but a piece of Feria that is installed here, year after year, could not have a better name since it defines the feeling that during the 365 days of the year radiates from this center”.
Moh thanked the work of the Territorial Director and the Director of the Social Center as well as all the team and all the workers “for making this center smell like Feria year after year, live the Fair and enjoy and make all the users enjoy the patron saint’s parties”.
The Delegate, accompanied by Aznar and Paqué, has proceeded with the ‘lighting of lights’ with which they have given the starting signal to a week full of activities designed so that our elders can enjoy a wide program all oriented to the patron saint’s festivities of Melilla.
Moh has extended his gratitude to all the users who participate day by day in the activities that are organized in the Social Center and also to all the musical groups that participate in this space and that do it in an altruistic way “to give, as the name of the house says, joy to this corner every day of this week, where all the activities will be intensely lived.”
“It is an honor and a pride for me to be able to participate and enjoy these activities, this effective environment and, above all, to be able to enjoy with all the users who participate here,” he acknowledged.
Activities for the whole week
Verónica Aznar, for her part, has highlighted the fact that the Social Center already exceeds 5,000 members. Some partners, he stressed, are very participative and that “they have contributed their ideas and needs to create this festive atmosphere, to make an extension of the Fair and the exhibition center in the Senior Citizens Center, so that during all these days activities can be carried out according to those desires that continue to have so much to remember past moments,” he said.
Thus, the Director of the Imserso has referred to the tombola of the cube or the gala of Miss and Mister or the different performances that are going to be carried out throughout the week to which she has thanked them to be offered to be part of the party organized by the Imserso.
In his speech he explained that in addition to carrying out activities within the center, users will also carry out initiatives in the real of the Fair. “We do not create a center apart from the Fair but this center is inside the Fair and activities are organized here also within the fairground and our majors will be part of the activities that are organized from the city,” he explained.
Aznar has congratulated all the partners of the center and has wished them a happy fair, a congratulation that has extended to all citizens. “Let us enjoy these beautiful days and share special moments,” he said.
Finally, Paqué has rewarded workers, Board of Government and users for their participation in the conception and realization of the program of activities that are going to be developed during all these days. He has also appealed to all Melillenses to participate with their relatives in this celebration as the “center is open for them”.
After the ‘lighting of lights’, one of the users, Pepe, has proceeded to the reading of the proclamation and the Flamenco School has delighted the attendees with sevillanas, rumbas and all kinds of festive music.
