The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports (MEFPyD) has authorized two new professional titles in face-to-face mode in Melilla, each with an offer of 30 places: the basic degree training cycle in Domestic Activities and Cleaning of Buildings, which will be taught at the IES Virgen de la Victoria, and the specialization course in Digital content writing for marketing and sales, at the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia.
The Provincial Director of Education, Juan Ángel Berbel, has highlighted the implementation of these new degrees that “expand and update the training offer taking into account the needs of citizens and the job profiles most demanded today”.
In addition, a second group of the mid-level technician in Auxiliary Nursing Care at the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia has been authorized to split tomorrow, and at the IES Enrique Nieto has been authorized to split the title of technician in Guide in Natural Environment and Free Time. Berbel has advanced that this is due “to the high demand in the labor market and the high employability in the city of these profiles”.
Government of Spain bet on FP
As explained by the Provincial Director of our city, since the 2019/2020 academic year the Ministry has “decisively and strongly opted for the expansion of VET education” in the City. “With the two new courses introduced for the 2024/25 academic year, there are 27 professional degrees introduced in this period, which has meant a potential increase of more than 1000 places for these courses during this time interval,” he stressed.
Berbel has highlighted the high investment “to meet the needs of the productive and business fabric that the city demands”. This investment, which is above 50% in funding compared to the previous executive, has allowed FP’s teaching in Melilla to be adjusted “to the challenge that as a society and country the labor market poses to us to meet its most urgent demands in terms of recruitment and optimal training”.
Training offer
In this way, the students of Melilla who request to study vocational training and artistic teaching will be able to choose to start teaching in 1 of the cycles between:
• Basic degree training cycles: 14 titles from 11 professional families, 3 of them duplicates.
• Medium Degree Training Cycles: 23 titles from 15 professional families, 4 of them duplicated.
• Higher Level Training Cycles: 29 titles from 15 professional families 1 duplicate and 2 unfolded.
• Specialization courses: 3 titles corresponding to 3 professional families.
About 2 million euros of investment
The Provincial Director has detailed that he has opted for a significant economic increase for the implementation of measures such as innovation, digitalization, applied research and entrepreneurship, apart from the usual operating expenses per FP that has amounted to more than 1.4 M€, for the nine centers that teach these teachings, to which is added an extraordinary release at the end of the year of more than 475,000€ for entrepreneurship classrooms, ATECA classroom, bilingual cycles and in the accreditation process.
“The goal that we set as a country in the accreditation of labor skills is to reach three million by 2025, an ambitious milestone, as well as necessary to remain competitive as a developed economy within the countries of the OECD,” he stressed.
