From 2012 to 2017, 13,700 troops of the State Security Forces and Corps were reduced. In other words, we had a significant decrease in agents of both the National Police and the Civil Guard.”
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, in an interview broadcast last night on Popular TV, referred to the loss of police force that occurred with the Government of Mariano Rajoy and how the Executive that presides over Pedro Sánchez has reversed the situation.
“In order for more agents to reach territories such as Melilla, it was necessary, fundamental and vital to do what the central government has done, such as continually taking places, through Public Employment Offers, to continue nourishing the workforce throughout the territory and, of course, also of Melilla and that afterwards we do not have any deficit”, said the highest representative of the Government of Spain in Melilla.
Thus, it has highlighted that this same year there are 5,506 places offered by the Ministry of the Interior for both bodies. “Right now we have reached the highest number of State Security Forces and Corps personnel at the state level, there are 154,000 professionals who provide service,” he said, while noting that, “from there, we have to work on improving the workforce, which is what we have been doing.”
In fact, he has made it clear that, “right now there are more agents providing services in Melilla than in 2017 and, therefore, there will be fewer and fewer places that we need to cover for Operation Paso del Angol because the staffing will be improved”.
As for the interns, who every year serve in our city, Moh has pointed out that they do an entirely professional job and, in addition, he has recalled that they are accompanied by personnel from the structural staff of the city itself. “Now there are going to be a significant number of trainees, a total of 40, who join next month and who will strengthen the staff to carry out the functions of the Police,” he said.
Navigation contract
In another order of things, during the television interview the maritime contract has been addressed, the Delegate has reported that there is an advanced work in the new documents but has recalled that, since the arrival of Pedro Sánchez to La Moncloa, there has been a very important improvement with respect to the contracts that existed before.
“The contract has been improving a lot compared to the one in 2017 and, therefore, we are now in the midst of elaborating the new documents to be able, as soon as possible, to have that new maritime contract, which we must also remember that it has an important budgetary allocation with the sole purpose of ensuring that the services continue to be improved and are in accordance with what the Melillense citizens do not really deserve,” he said.
Thus, the Delegate has stressed that the Government’s objective is to have better boats and lower prices, as in the case of vehicles. In this regard, he recalled that this Executive already managed to reduce the cost of the vehicle by 50% compared to what it cost when the PP governed, in reference to the 122 euros that it was worth in the period of Mariano Rajoy’s government compared to the 60 euros that it costs now.
In addition, Moh recalled that, with the arrival of the current government, the connection with Motril was included in the Navigation contract, something that was not given with the PP, and in the current contract two lots were incorporated. “The government that leads Pedro Sánchez incorporated the two lots, which seems to be a proposal of the Popular Party, and it is not so,” he said.
In addition, “we demanded in the documents that all cabins have private bathrooms”, he recalled, and referred to the statements of a PP official who said that ships always had bathrooms in all cabins. “It is one thing that the ship carries, and it is another thing that the specifications demand of it. And, when he ruled the People’s Party, he only required the shipping company to have half of its cabins bathed,” he said.
In addition, the Executive of Sánchez has incorporated other substantial improvements such as the type of ship that operates. “It is not the same boat that is operating now as the boat of the maritime contract at 0 euros,” he stressed. “It’s not the same boats we have now with this government as the boats we had when the PP ruled,” he said.
“The contract that is in force right now was already going to improve a lot what there was and what we have tried to keep all those improvements and, if we can a plus more, of course also,” he said.
With regard to the demand of the Imbroda Government to be heard in this area, Moh recalled that the first time a working group has been formed to create a dialogue table with all the agents involved, it has been with this Government, since in the Subcommittee on Maritime Transport where the social agents, the employers, the Autonomous City and the Port Authority are present, where they can provide proposals.
“The Port Authority has been listened to, just like the Autonomous City, they have made the proposals and we have discussed them at a dialogue table,” he said. However, the PP, when it has had government responsibility “have never met us to hear what proposals we have the rest. Not to us, not to the social people, not to the employers, not to anyone,” he said. “What they are demanding now, before, when they had government responsibilities, they did not apply it,” he said.
