The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has called on the citizens of Melilla to go to the polls to vote. “We are in a full democracy and a day like today is of vital importance and therefore we all have to be aware of it,” he said.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, who has exercised her right to vote at the Reina Sofía Special Education Center at 11.30 a.m. accompanied by her husband and her son, in statements to the media has stressed the importance of these elections and the need for the people of Melilla “to go out and vote and do so thinking that we play a lot”.
“There are many people who have fought so that today we can exercise our free exercise and have the right to vote and therefore it is vitally important that the citizens are aware of it and that they go out to vote”, he stressed, even more so when in the meeting with the ballot boxes today “we talk nothing more and nothing less about the Europe we want”.
Police deployment
The head of the Government Delegation, in her speech, thanked all the people who made it possible for all the polling stations to be opened normally today and for the day to be uneventful.
Moh has referred to the State Security Forces and Corps, the Local Police, the school janitors, the cleaning staff, the inspectors and agents, the presidents and board members, the staff of the General Administration of the State... and “all of those who today are going to make it possible for this day to take place in the best possible way.”
With regard to the State Security Forces and Local Police, he recalled that, as in each election day, there is a deployment to ensure security and so that all Melillense citizens can exercise their free exercise and right to vote.
Specifically, the device consists of 154 officers of the National Police, 137 of the Local Police, who are joined by a reinforcement staff of the Civil Guard if necessary at any time.
“I would like to express my gratitude to all of them, to all of them, to the Local Police who have also been carrying the schools since yesterday, guarding the schools so that nothing happens, so that today we have been able to open all the tables without any incident and, as I said, to the National Police for the deployment and to the Civil Guard for the support it always provides to both bodies,” he said.
