The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, will hold a meeting next week with the Secretary General of Air and Maritime Transport, Benito Núñez, to address the improvement of transport between our city and the peninsula.
This was announced by the highest representative of the National Executive in our city in an interview granted to the COPE chain, in which the maritime navigation contract and the criticisms that have been made against it by the popular people have been addressed.
“Maritime contracts have always been improving and the last maritime contract presented by the government headed by Pedro Sánchez was much better than the last maritime contract of the Popular Party,” Moh recalled.
For this reason, he has recognized that he is surprised that the PP now comes to make so many suggestions and that, “when it has been governing and has had the opportunity to implement measures that benefit the Melillense citizens, it has not done so”.
In Moh’s opinion, this is because the people “know that when they govern their party at the state level they are not listened to and that the only way their proposals can be carried out is for them to govern the Socialist Party, because the PSOE is really committed to the Melilla people.” In fact, “if the Melillense citizens speak and consider that there are some actions that must be included in the maritime contract, they get involved, which is what has been done during this time”.
14 to 40 million
The head of the Government Delegation pointed out that there has been a very significant increase in the economic endowment in the maritime navigation contract. “We have gone from 14 million that the People’s Party had to the almost 40 million euros that this government has put on the table with a single objective that is to improve connections and improve services,” he said.
“That is why I say that I am surprised that the People’s Party now has all the magic recipes to make a contract when they, for example, and this strikes me, did not even demand that all the cabins have a bathroom. Only 50% of cabins required a private bathroom and the rest did not”, he recalled.
Or, as far as tariffs are concerned, he has indicated that the popular ones “now talk about the maximum tariffs, but the truth is that with the PP the vehicle cost 122 euros compared to the current 60 euros. This is an improvement that has been introduced by this government led by Pedro Sánchez,” he stressed. “That they now demand and that, when they have been in the Government, they have not taken into account this series of issues that served to improve the services is striking,” he insisted.
OSP to Motril and 2 lots
The Delegate has pointed out that the creation of the two subcommissions of Transport - air and sea - in which all the agents involved participate, including the Government of the Autonomous City, offers, in fact, the opportunity to bring any improvement, something to which the Government of Spain is always open, has made clear.
But the problem, in the words of Sabrina Moh, is that the PP wants to arrogate to itself improvements that have been implemented by the Government of Pedro Sánchez. Thus, he recalled that when the Popular Party ruled, “we, from the opposition, requested that the Motril maritime line be introduced into the Public Service Obligation (PSO) and said that it was impossible, something that we have achieved.”
Regarding the issue of the lots, Moh recalled that the first time it was done was in the previous contract, with the Government of Pedro Sánchez, “therefore it is not a proposal of the Autonomous City, it is something that this government has materialized and that, if it is considered that it is the formula that should be applied, it will not be because the Government of the Autonomous City has proposed it, but because this Government has already carried it out.”
“The two lots have been an idea that this Government has put in place, as well as the area for pets, just as the boats are more modern, the maximum prices for vehicles… all this has been done by this Government and, therefore, are not issues proposed by the Autonomous City,” he has made clear.
“This Government of progress led by Pedro Sánchez is really committed to the city and that is why so many improvements have been implemented, which means the increase in the budget allocation is greater,” he said. “We have greatly improved the last contract left by the Partido Popular,” he concluded.
