The Head of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in Melilla, Laura Segura, held a meeting with the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, to continue improving coordination in the fight against gender violence and vicarious violence,
The meeting, which took place this Friday in Valladolid and was attended by the Delegate of the Government against Gender Violence, Carmen Martínez; the Secretary General of Territorial Coordination, Miryam Álvarez; and the heads of the Coordination Units against Violence against Women, the Delegations and Subdelegations of the Government, has served to make a diagnosis of the current situation and implement new measures or maximize the effectiveness of the existing ones.
At this meeting, different measures have been agreed that are going to be implemented, and the Minister has also announced that violet dots will be implanted in all the delegations and subdelegations of the Government, where you can denounce an aggression or receive information. The objective of opening new violet points, according to Equality, is "to promote that the other bodies of the general administration of the State at the territorial level have these points in general".
Redondo has highlighted the need and importance of this meeting in the face of the data on gender violence and vicarious violence that are being recorded in 2024, with ten women and seven minors killed. The Minister recalled that gender violence is a State issue, and insisted on the need to combat the denial discourses that distort language or justify violence.
Laura Segura has transferred to the head of the Ministry of Equality the reality of Melilla, focusing on the peculiarities and specificities faced by the Unit in the autonomous city.
The Units, which are functionally subordinate to the Ministry of Equality, and are coordinated through the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, have among their functions the monitoring and coordination of resources and services for victims of all types of violence, collaboration with administrations, personalized monitoring of each case and actions with victims of death and serious injuries, as well as their children; among others.

This meeting has also analyzed the situation of the Units, which have increased their functions over recent years and which require an increase in staffing and administrative support. In this regard, the Minister of Equality has announced that a report has been prepared together with Territorial Policy to strengthen the resources and personnel of these Units.
Ana Redondo has assured that a specific focus for Human Resources will be included in the reedition of the State Pact against Gender Violence and that it is also continuing with the transfer of one million euros from the Government Delegation against Gender Violence to Territorial Policy for the development of actions.
The Minister of Equality also wanted to transfer to the Coordination Units against Violence against Women the advances and lines of action of the Ministry and its commitment to the eradication of gender violence and vicarious violence.
In this way, he highlighted the commitment of the President of the Government in the celebration of the extraordinary plenary session of the State Observatory on Violence against Women and the measures adopted by the Council of Ministers that approved the distribution of 160 million euros to the Autonomous Communities and Cities destined to the fight against gender violence.
Of the total, 140.2 million euros are earmarked for the development of the State Pact against Gender Violence and the remaining 19.8 million will be invested in different regional programs and plans aimed at victims of gender violence and sexual violence. In addition, it has been recalled that the distribution of the amounts will be held on April 29 at the Sectoral Conference on Equality.
