The Entry/Exit System (EES), the new automated European entry/exit system that is being implemented at the border of Beni-Start, the Airport and the Port of Melilla, will become operational in all Member States of the European Union (EU).
The Government Delegate, Sabrina Moh, in statements to the media, explained that it is a system that is being installed at all the external borders of the EU countries with third countries and that, therefore, the power to put it into operation does not depend on Melilla but on the agreement of all the countries that are implementing it.
What does depend exclusively on the Government of Spain is the implementation of the Agile Passage System, which will serve to control frequent travelers between Melilla and Morocco and in which work is being done “to get it up and running as soon as possible”.
In fact, the Delegate recalled that its installation is very advanced at the border crossing of Beni-Enza. A system that, like the EES is going to be installed in the Port and Airport of our city, which will allow us to verify that the people who have accessed our city meet the requirements for their access to the rest of the Schengen territory.
