The Head of the Coordination Unit Against Violence Against Women, Laura Segura, has announced that a Round Table will be held under the title “Let’s Talk. For Equality and against Gender Violence”, on the occasion of March 8, International Women’s Day.
The initiative, which will take place next Wednesday, March 6, from 09:30 to 11:15 hours in the Assembly Hall of the Melilla Campus of the University of Granada (UGR) and which is organized by the Unit with the collaboration of the Faculty of Education and Sports Sciences Melilla, Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Melilla, Faculty of Health Sciences of Melilla and the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA), Health Area of Melilla.
“Every March 8, we demand the achievement of real equality and the construction of a society free of male violence, which is one of the most terrible manifestations of inequality between men and women,” said Segura.
As he recalled, situations of inequality are evident in all areas of our lives: family, work, pensions, availability of time, digital gender gap, representation in organs of power… What he added is evidence that “the life of women is manifestly worse than that of men in all aspects of people’s lives.”
The Head of Unit recalled that violence against women is the most extreme manifestation of inequality and that “if we fight for equality, we contribute to preventing violence and, vice versa, if we fight against violence against women, we are working for a society in Equality”. For all of this, he has invited to attend this event that will take place with free entry until it completes capacity.
