The Head of the Coordination Unit Against Violence Against Women, Laura Segura, highlighted the widespread rejection that society has shown against the misogynist and sexist article that was published yesterday against the Government Delegate, Sabrina Moh.
“I am very happy to see the comments of most of the people who wrote and rejected this type of message”, he said, and recalled that “when we talk about political violence we talk about precisely this” in reference to the violence that is exercised against those women “who have made the decision, brave still our society, to be part of organs of power and leadership”.
As Segura has recalled, in this case the Delegate of the Government is the maximum representation of the Government in our city and, “practically since she took office she has suffered this type of comments, articles that directly address personal aspects, even physical aspects and issues that are only of interest to the person, are finally used to attack women in a machista and misogynist way.”
“Machismo wants us to keep quiet,” said Segura, who was convinced that a very clear message must be sent that “those women who are part of the leadership must be supported by the whole of society” in the face of the misogynist attacks “and yesterday we had that response.”
Segura has acknowledged that she is not only concerned about the message itself, but about the fact that the media are echoing this type of opinion articles that do not talk about the political function and those aspects that have to do with the daily work of the Delegate, “but talk about personal aspects and above all with a machista and misogynist tint”, which is something “clearly rejected by the whole of society”.
