“Education in values, from very early ages, is key to eradicating violence against women and to having effective and real equality.”
This afternoon, the Government Delegation hosted the awards ceremony of the Children and Youth Competition for Equality and Against Gender Violence aimed at students from all educational stages and all educational centers in Melilla.
Its head, Sabrina Moh, thanked all the participants - more than 300 schoolchildren from almost all the educational centers of the city -, the parents of the same, and the management teams of all the educational centers as well as those responsible for equality of the same, for their commitment to equality and the support shown to this activity carried out by the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women in collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of Education.
A contest from which the prizes of its first edition have been awarded today, but Moh has already said that this event “has come to stay”, not only because of the huge participation but also because of the high level of the works presented. It is clear proof, he said, that “education is the engine and the tool for society to continue advancing in values as important as equality.”
“The educational community, when it works as a whole, when it works through coordination, can do such valuable things as the one we are rewarding here today”, said the Delegate,
The Delegate congratulated the winners and congratulated them, while recognizing that, due to the high level of the work, “you have given a lot of work to the jury”. Something, he said, that “is a sign that there is desire, that there is potential and that Melilla is going to be a pioneer in continuing to make visible, from very early ages, these values that are fundamental, so that we have a future where men and women are on an equal footing”.
Moh has stressed that the work for real equality and to eradicate gender violence is not that of 25N but that of 365 days a year. And, “there we are going to be the public authorities, the people who hold positions of responsibility, to continue working so that, finally, we have a fair and equal society”.
At this point she has recognized “the work, the involvement, the dedication and the commitment” of the Head of Unit, Laura Segura, the daily work of the State Security Forces and Local Police, as well as the “wonderful work” that the management teams and equality officers of the educational centers of Melilla are doing. He has encouraged all of them to continue working in this line.
