The Head of Press of the Government Delegation in Melilla, Eder Barandiaran, has been distinguished with the White Cross of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guard.
With this distinction, granted on the proposal of the Ministry of the Interior, the aim has been to highlight the professionalism in the communication and information activities of the Government Delegation in Melilla and the good treatment given to the service and vicissitudes of the Civil Guard in the city of Melilla.
The recognition was carried out in the offices of the Technological Security Center (CETSE) in the municipality of El Pardo in Madrid, this past Friday. The event was chaired by the head of the Interior portfolio, Fernando Grande Marlaska, and the honoree was wrapped up by his wife, as well as by the Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, and the Lieutenant Colonel and Head of the Command of the Civil Guard of Melilla, Arturo Ortega.
Together with Grande Marlaska, the honors were won by the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez; the Undersecretary of the Interior, Isabel Goicoechea; the Director General of the Civil Guard, Leonardo Marcos; the Secretary General of Penitentiary Institutions, Ángel Luis Ortiz; the Director General of International Relations and Foreigners, Elena Garzón Otamendi; and the Director General of Coordination and Studies, José Antonio Rodríguez.
In his speech, the Minister highlighted the “professionalism and generosity of public servants who, through their daily work, contribute to making Spain safer, more supportive and fairer”.
“You are all protagonists of the best Spain, an advanced society that defends equality, tolerant, and eager to live in peace and freedom,” said Grande Marlaska.
The General Secretary of Transport and Mobility, María José Rallo, who has been one of the decorated, spoke a few words on behalf of the 92 people from all over the country who were awarded a decoration.
The honored ones include public servants who work in the different areas and who, among other issues, dedicate themselves every day to the fight against gender violence, cybercrime, terrorist threats, to protect our critical infrastructures, meet the demands of asylum and refuge or transfer to society the best image of our Security Forces.
The Order of Merit of the Civil Guard is a distinction to reward actions or conduct of extraordinary importance that result in prestige of the Corps and interest of the Homeland. This reward, of a civil nature, can be granted to the members of that Body and to any other person or entity that becomes creditor of it.
