The Ministry of the Interior is going to make improvements in the fence and surroundings of the North Dam for an amount of 4.9 million euros, as reported by the Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh.
As explained by the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, at the end of July technicians of the Secretary of State for Security visited the area to see the actions that are going to be carried out.
“We are talking about an investment of almost 5 million euros for the adaptation and modernization of the North Dam,” said Moh, adding that it will replace the existing fence with a more modern and effective one since, due to the passage of time and the effects of the weather and waves, the current one has deteriorated.
The access road to the North Dam will also be improved and conditioned, added the Delegate in reference to the road that is used for the Civil Guard in this security area.
Finally, the Delegate has advanced that a badge will be implemented that will improve the protection of the area against the attacks of the waves.
Perimeter and border improvement
As Moh pointed out, this improvement is in addition to those that the Government of Pedro Sánchez has carried out throughout the perimeter, Dique Sur and border of Beni-Enza.
Thus, he recalled the modernization of the border perimeter, in two phases, with the installation among other elements of inverted combs; the implementation of the smart border in Beni-Inicio through the automated entry and exit system Entry/Exit System (EES) and the improvement works that materialized in the South Dam.
